How Safe Is Eliquid And Is It Effective In Cutting The Smoking Habit?
The increase in the number of electronic cigarettes among the members of the general public has caused different debates among the experts where they seek to determine whether the habit is safe or can be considered hazardous. Most people, however, have in the recent times shifted from the use of electronic cigarettes to the use of nicotine-laden flavors thus shifting the attention of the researchers. There are two groups who argue about the safety of the eliquids and its effect on the human bodies where one group argue that they are more harmful than the cigarettes. Another group, however, disputes the effects of the e-liquid on the human body arguing that it is safe since no effects have so far been documented thus deeming their use safe.
While each group may hold their argument to be correct there is need to establish the truth about the e-liquid flavors by scrutinizing the components used and also considering each group’s argument. There is no product that a human being uses can be termed to be 100 percent safe for use not even the purified clean drinking water as it can also cause death due to the fact that it causes hyponatremia disease. What matters when one is consuming different products is their level of safety as well as their relative harm compared to other products that one can be using. Thus when determining whether the use of e-liquid we do not seek to prove that it is 100 percent safe but compare it with the cigarettes which they are replacing in the recent times. Our bodies were designed to inhale oxygen, and thus anything different from it when inhaled may have effects on our bodies. The safety levels of using any product depends on the components used during the manufacture, but not many people are aware of the components of the e-liquid.
One of the components of the e-liquid is nicotine which is a highly addictive stimulant which when used in excess it may prove to be fatal. Nicotine can create vasoconstriction which causes tingling sensations, headaches and blood circulation problems such as high blood pressure. However nicotine can help fight depression, improve concentration and is recommended for patients who suffer from different brain disorders such as ADHD. The second component that is used in making the eliquids are the glycol compounds such as propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin which are used to create smoke illusion. Manufacturers also include flavors to the eliquids mainly the food flavors. Manufacturers may also add distilled water to the eliquids to make them wick while others add vodka or pure grain alcohol aiming at improving throat hit.
